This childbirth class for doulas fulfills one part of Doulas of North America International's (www.dona.org) requirements for the birth doula certification program.
Those attending should be registered for the Doula Training Workshop.
9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Includes breaks and time for lunch on your own.
Topics include:
* anatomy of the female reproductive system
* basic fetal development
* physiology of pregnancy, labor and birth, immediate postpartum and breastfeeding
* introduction to medical terminology regarding labor and birth
* pain management
* labor variations
* cesarean section
* normal newborn appearance and medical procedures affecting the newborn
* basic comfort measures: relaxation, breathing patterns and bearing down techniques
* benefits of breastfeeding
Tuition: $85 before October 1, $100 after October 1

BIRTH HELP'S DONA-APPROVED DOULA TRAINING WORKSHOP
The Doula Skills Workshop fee is $375.
A $100 non-refundable deposit is accepted to reserve a place as workshop enrollment is limited. To receive the early registration discount, the balance must be paid by September 21. To hold your place after a deposit is paid, without receiving the early registration discount, the balance must be received by October 1.
Registrations will be accepted after October 1 if there are openings, as registration is limited.

APPRENTICE DOULA PROGRAM
Birth Help offers an apprentice training program for doulas desiring experiential training while working with experienced, certified doulas. DONA does not require doulas to participate in an apprentice program to fulfill requirements for birth doula certification.
The apprentice program allows doulas to learn while attending client consultations, prenatal client appointments, births, and postpartum visits. Apprentice doulas also complete reading assignments, childbirth class observations, birth summaries, and participate in other Birth Help functions.
Tuition varies as the apprentice program is personalized to each doula's needs and skill level.
